Designing Our Green Homes and Communities
In a
world of peak oil, rapidly rising energy and material prices, and increasing
climate protection measures, it is essential that our homes and communities
change as quickly as possible. Designing Our Green Homes and Communities is one of four classes in the permaculture design
certificate course, and is open to anyone who has completed An
Introduction to Permaculture and Basics
of Permaculture. This set of courses, which takes place over four weekends and five days, begins with an informative guided tour of two energy efficient green homes. One is an
affordable new one and the other is retrofitted to reduce fossil energy use. We
discuss climate control, building new ecohouses, and retrofitting old ones.
Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit is available.
NOTE: This is one of the four permaculture courses that lead to a permaculture designer's certificate. Introduction to Permaculture and Basics of Permaculture classes are a prerequisite to this class.
The Permaculture Guild Of Houston teachers in this class include Bill Hancock, Diana Liga, Shawn McFarland, Dr. Bob Randall, MC Swearingen, Jennifer Walker, Cas & Gita Van Woerden, and guest teacher Kirby Fry.
