Description
The Sims Bayou Urban Nature Center is the education campus and home to Houston Audubon’s education department. The Center provides a peaceful setting for scouting, birding and other outdoor programs. Grounds include vegetable beds and butterfly habitat beds. Visitors include school field trip groups, scout troops and other youth groups who work in the garden.
The Center is in need of regular volunteers to help with maintenance such as weeding. You are invited to plant your own vegetable or butterfly plants (space permitting) and you may bring a portion of the veggie harvest home with you. You will not be working directly with the youth visitors - this is a "behind the scenes" essential support volunteer position.
Skills & Experience Needed
Beginners and experienced gardeners are welcome.
Location
The garden is located at 3997 River Drive, Houston, TX 77017. It is two blocks from I-45 just outside the 610 loop in southeast Houston.
