This 4-class series is designed for beginning gardeners to learn basic gardening skills and techniques in designing and siting a garden in addition to cultivating and planting. A weekly Zoom class with our garden experts for support including a Q and A session after each presentation to help mentor and get you started.

Class 1: 9/5/23, Essential elements in locating, designing, and building a garden bed

Class 2: 9/12/23, Gardening for soil, compost, and mulch

Class 3: 9/19/23, Plant propagations how-to's

Class 4: 9/26/23, Ecological strategies for pest management and maintaining a healthy garden

PRESENTERS:

Sherry Cruse is an Urban Harvest instructor and Texas Master Gardener. She has been teaching adults and children about plants and gardening for nearly 20 years.

Sharon Stinson is the Class Coordinator at Urban Harvest. She is also a Master Gardener graduate with her Growing Organic Vegetables Certification, who promises to finish her 100-hour Permaculture Certification soon. She is an avid gardener and seed starter, growing seedlings for the Urban Harvest HUB Distributions. You will find her every hour of the day and night playing with plants in her garden. These Urban Harvest Garden Educators bring varied expert experience into the garden as educators and are knowledgeable in the topics covered for growing a bountiful garden in the Houston region and climate.

If you cannot attend the class as scheduled, there are no refunds or substitutions. Class recordings will be sent to participants as available.

Registration will close 24 hours prior to classes Monday - Saturday and 48 hours before all Sunday classes.
