Horticultural Therapy uses engagement with plants and plant-based activities to achieve therapeutic goals. This class will provide an overview of the profession, how one becomes a horticultural therapist and where they practice. Most importantly, it will go in-depth in how gardeners can apply principles of horticultural therapy to create a more healing, hopeful and inclusive experience in their home, community, or school garden.
Betty Baer is a retired occupational therapist with certification in horticultural therapy. She spent her career at the VA hospital and was a garden coordinator for veterans there. She is a long-standing member of the Urban Harvest Community Gardens Committee.

Class recordings will be sent out after the class as available.
