What’s the next step after turning you kitchen or yard waste into compost? How does it all break down? Enter heat & earthworms! Meg will lead us through the process of setting up and maintaining a wormery. Once the colony of worms is up and running, the worms get to work producing worm castings, which is a nutrient rich form of compost. The saying “you get out of it what you put into it” literally applies to the practice of composting with worms…kitchen scraps go in to the wormery and worm castings come out. Wormeries are forgiving and the size can be tailored to almost any space. Come discover the joy that comes from having a wormery!
Meg Tapp is the President of The Garden Club of Houston and leads workshops focusing primarily on backyard vegetable gardening. She’s a native Houstonian and been gardening all her adult life. You will be entertained as you learn from her experiences in her own garden. She is the plant expert for Houston Matters radio show on Houston Public Media, a regular guest on Home Show Garden Pros Facebook Live show, and a presenter for Urban Harvest educational Classes. She also travels around the country as a Horticulture Judge at Garden Club of America Flower Shows.
