A garden workshop for teachers of seed-to-plate lessons! In the garden, we will explore soil, compost and mulch to prepare beds for spring vegetable plantings and enjoy a seasonal harvest. Participants will put on chef aprons in the outdoor kitchen and prepare a tasty recipe with the garden produce for light snacks. Telling your story and building resiliency will be covered at our table talks with social media tips to increase and leverage your good work in shared green spaces to promote food access and environmental education.  

Teachers may earn up to 3 CPEs. 

Who: Classroom teachers, garden educators, homeschool parents, community volunteers.  

Where: The Cultivated Classroom at Gregory-Lincoln EC-PVA 1101 Taft St; Houston, TX 77019  

Includes: refreshments, seasonal bites, spring and summer seeds, transplants and seasonal recipes in addition to a digital access to the Urban Harvest School Gardening Guide 

PRESENTER 
Carol Burton, Director of Gardening Education has twenty years of experience gardening and growing food gardens in shared spaces, backyards and school gardens.  She is a certified educator and curriculum specialist in environmental education.  She oversees Urban Harvest education programming, presents and teaches professional development courses, including Edible Academy to share her love of gardening, conservation, and growing good food.

The Cultivated Classroom at Gregory-Lincoln Education Center is an affiliate community garden and the location of the award-winning Cultivated Classroom culinary program lead by founder, director, and teacher, Kellie Karavias. www.thecultivatedclassroom.com
