Forest gardening is a low-maintenance, sustainable, food production and agroforestry system based on woodland ecosystems, incorporating fruit and nut trees, shrubs, herbs, vines and perennial vegetables which have yields directly useful to humans.
Mickey Kleinhenz will share about his personal projects in developing forest gardens specific to our gulf coast climate highlighting his selection of best varieties to select for the many layers of a forest from upper canopy, mid-story and ground covers.
PRESENTER: Mickey Kleinhenz
Mickey Kleinhenz is a practiced Permaculture enthusiast and beekeeper with degrees in Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. He has managed vegetable production and worked many years with children in school garden programs and outdoor education.
Includes admission to the Houston Botanic Gardens during normal business hours before 5pm. Lite bites to network before the start of the class will be provided.
If you cannot attend the class as scheduled, there are no refunds or substitutions.
Registration will close 24 hours prior to most classes and 48 hours before all Sunday classes.
