FRUIT TREE TRAINING & PRUNING CLASS SERIES

ZOOM CLASS BY INVITATION, $90

This series consists of 3 classes that will start with a two and a half hour lecture style class designed to teach you the principles of pruning and training your fruit trees.

• Class 1: Sat. 1/16: This class a presentation with photos on basic ideas such as: pruning tools and equipment, proper cutting techniques, timing, how to prune for this year’s and future year's production, and the many goals of fruit pruning for both young and mature plants. Also covered in the presentation are details about training and pruning the commonly grown fruits in Houston and Southeast Texas.
• Class 2: Sat. 1/23 and
• Class 3: Sat. 1/30: These two classes are videos mixed with photos of the instructor demonstrating pruning and training fruit trees in his yard.  Fruits to be covered are pears, apples, 3 kinds of berries, peaches and plums, as well as persimmons, bunch grapes and sweet muscadines, citrus, pomegranates, figs, bananas, papayas, kiwis, and as time permits other semi-tropicals (starfruit, tropical guava, lychee, mango).

These classes do not cover other aspects of fruit care, such as planting, pests, orchard design, sources, or relative merits of different fruits and varieties. These are covered in other classes and are covered in Dr. Randall’s 2019 book “Year-Round Food Gardening for Houston and Southeast Texas”.  At 12:30 after each class, the instructor may have time to answer a few of these other questions.

The Zoom class invitation link will be emailed to you a couple of days before the class date. If you don't receive it, check your spam folder or email the classes coordinator. There are no refunds, substitutions or recordings if you cannot attend a live class for which you signed up.
