MCGOVERN CENTENNIAL FAMILY GARDENS
This class is for newer gardeners. We will demonstrate and students will participate in soil building and management, fertilization, composting, mulching and planting with seed and transplants to have the experience of gardening.
The foundation for growing healthy, nutrient dense vegetables is healthy soil - structure, chemistry and as important are supporting microscopic soil organisms. The basics of growing vegetables will be covered in the presentation, with the handout providing what vegetable varieties to plant in the spring gardens. There will not be time in the presentation for specific questions about your garden, but the instructor will stay afterwards and answer your questions.
This class is hands-on for about 30 minutes, with a presentation at the garden. Be ready to get dirty! Sponsored by Hermann Park Conservancy. Limited to 20 participants, no walk ins.

Parking is available at the Centennial Gardens parking lot (Lot C) on Hermann Drive with entrances at Crawford and Jackson Streets, Parking map: shorturl.at/ezAW2 Enter through the Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion and follow the Urban Harvest orange/white arrow signs to the Family Gardens near the fence line along Hermann Drive. This is an outdoor class and will run rain or shine. Please dress to get dirty, and wear closed toe shoes, long pants. We will spend about 30 minutes of the class prepping the garden bed, planting transplants and seeds.
