Tamika Caston-Miller from The Ranch Houston delves into sustainable land stewardship and growing your own food as a revolutionary act in modern culture. She will highlight her personal experience of building The Creole Garden, a multi-functioning, continually evolving space dedicated to increased understanding of garden-to-table eating, land stewardship and horticultural therapy. Learn how they have contextualized the garden as a “project” to change the narrative from perfection to the notion that beauty is always under construction.

PRESENTER
Tamika is an educator, homesteader, yoga teacher, and community builder that runs The Ranch Houston, LLC with her wife Lenie and a team of dedicated volunteers. Tamika is focused on sharing authentic yoga movement, meditation, and conscious rest to foster healing from ancestral trauma, self-acceptance and empowerment, especially for communities of color and the LGBTQ+ community.

COMMUNITY PARTNER
The Ranch Houston, LLC, comprised of Ashé Yoga and Wellness, The Creole Garden, and The Mill HTX, is an intentional, conscious organization created for adults to connect in an inclusive community through art, food, nature exploration and movement, and for school-aged children to empower themselves through education on sustainability and edible gardening. Their Garden Project Educational Program teaches children in communities commonly located in “food deserts” about horticultural science and bringing food from the garden to the table.  All are encouraged to connect to the curiosity of their inner child as they nurture their nature in a world that often encourages separation and fear. Minority and veteran-owned, The Ranch Houston is located south of the Texas Medical Center.

If you cannot attend the class as scheduled, there are no refunds or substitutions. Class recording will be sent to participants as available.

Registration will close 24 hours prior to classes Monday - Saturday and 48 hours before all Sunday classes.
