Limited to 15 attendees

Join Carol Burton and Meagan Terry for hands-on summer gardening demonstrations at the Urban Harvest Teaching Garden. We will learn how to garden soil, incorporate strategies for beating the heat, explore mulches, and learn the best tips on planting summer gardening favorites. Class participants will receive a set of seeds and transplants to plant in their home gardens. Ideal for those with backyard gardens, community and school gardens, and container gardens.

About Carol Burton

Carol Burton, Director of Gardening Education has twenty years of experience gardening and growing food gardens in shared spaces, backyards and school gardens.  She is a certified educator and curriculum specialist in environmental education.  She oversees Urban Harvest education programming, presents and teaches professional development courses, including Edible Academy to share her love of gardening, conservation, and growing good food. 

 

 About Meagan Terry

Meagan Terry, Classes Coordinator and Garden Educator, has experience vegetable farming and gardening in New Jersey, California, Latin America, and now Houston. She teaches both children and adults the basics of organic gardening. She previously was the Community Gardens Manager with Urban Harvest and supported a network of over 140 affiliate gardens that connect communities to their local food system. 

 

LOCATION:  

The Urban Harvest teaching garden was created in 2019 and underwritten by the generous support of Green Mountain Energy Sun Club Foundation. The garden irrigation is from a water catchment tank installed by Texas Metal Tanks and powered by solar panels. The garden is a demonstration garden of plot rotation based on the techniques and gardening strategies from Dr. Bob Randall’s Year Round Gardening Book. 

If you cannot attend a live class, there are not substitutions or refunds.
