We now have a WAITLIST for this class. We still have scholarships available.

This is our kick-off class for the new Permaculture Cohort of 2023-2024.

This class and Sustainable Living Through Permaculture #2 are prerequisites to take all subsequent Permaculture modules. Both will be offered again in the Fall.

We are seeking participants who are interested in improving their communities, creating connections with others, and increasing food access in the Houston area. If this sounds like you, then register today, space is limited.

Scholarship and Work-study opportunities:

Do you volunteer, work, or study in the Houston area at a community or school garden, farmers market, nature restoration, or community activist with a vision to co-create a healthier Houston and return to the land through community, apply here for a scholarship spot in the 2023-2024 cohort.

Permaculture is a design methodology that focuses on sustainable practices using effective principles and processes found in nature. In post-Harvey  Houston, permaculture principles directly address the ways to be more sustainable and flood resistant in both garden and home design. This class will introduce participants to the ethics of permaculture and provide an overview of the main principles as implemented in the well-established home and gardens of a long-time permaculture-designed home.

Location: takes place at a site implementing many of the sustainable living principles of permaculture; recycling and energy efficiency, through composting, solar energy, rainwater collection, and design principles incorporating an edible food forest, native plants and food gardens, and more.

Presenters: The Permaculture Guild of Houston are long-time presenters as well as new graduates of our Permaculture Designer Certificate program.

There are no refunds or substitutions if you cannot attend a live class.

Participants will be emailed the exact address and syllabus one week prior to the class with event details that include parking and contact information.
