Jomu

WHERE: Urban Harvest Farmers Market

WHO: Joe and Jess Murphy

THE BOTTOM LINE: Teaming up with super cool local farmers and vendors to make some delicious, Japanese inspired brunch stuffs.

ABOUT: It is at Jomu they bring their combined 30+ years of combined culinary expertise to a modern approach to Japanese food with influences of the local Texas cuisine. Items like the Peach Sando uses local Texas grown Yellow Peaches, Vanilla Whipped Cream and candied Pecans in the format of a Japanese Sando. Other items like the Hatch Chile and Hamachi Yellowtail Onigiri illustrate the homage to the local food traditions.

Their aim is to use traditional Japanese techniques with local Texas ingredients to create a truly unique experience for guests.

Currently, their Saturday menus consist of a rotating series of inspired brunch items, starting with mochi waffles, Onigiris, Donburis, Sandos, and Tamagoyakis, and more. Joe and Jess will explore all possibilities of the many categories within Japanese cuisine in order to fine tune a menu for a future brick and mortar.

In addition to their daytime market, Chef Joe and Chef Jess specialize in private catering, event catering and Intimate Omakase where they get to really showcase a more intricate and refined style of cuisine in a coursed tasting menu format. Stop by their tent for further inquiry.

FUN FACT: No one at Jomu is Japanese!
